Dr. Sharon George has accepted an Assistant Professor position at the University of Pittsburgh
Dr. Sharon George has accepted a new tenure track position as Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology at the University of Pittsburgh. She will be starting in her new role on Feb 1st, 2024.
Dr. George did her postdoctoral training in the Efimov lab at GWU and moved with the lab to Northwestern University as a Research Assistant Professor. Her work in the Efimov lab focused on understanding the role of p38 MAPKs in doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity and developing new imaging and analytical tools to study cardiac physiology.
In her new role at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr George will continue her research in cardio-oncology to determine the mechanistic pathways involved in cardiotoxicity of cancer chemotherapeutics. She will particularly focus on the sex differences in cardiotoxicity and the metabolic pathways involved in the development and progression of cardiotoxicity to heart failure. You can reach her at sageorge@pitt.edu.
We wish her all the best in her new role!
